Author Biography
Susan Crawford is a writer, traveler, former beekeeper, horsewoman, and accidental diarist. For more than forty-five years, she has filled journals, menus, receipts, and box tops capturing unminced moments — people, places, conversations, and the truths life doesn't usually hand you straight. As an equally keen observer of the natural world, Crawford discovered her short stories could give voice and presence to the smallest and the largest things by bringing readers into their world. She also lent her writing to special-interest organizations and was a contributing series writer for early digital technology publications before shifting to online content.
Raised in the Mid-Atlantic and later shaped by years in Nashville, with time in the American West and London, Crawford's writing carries the imprint of each place she's called home. Across decades and countries, she has maintained deep friendships that serve as her anchor, sounding board, and compass.
An optimist at heart, Crawford lives by a simple motto — "Be curious and generous" — and it shows in her work. Crawford writes with the conviction that lived experience is best as truths a reader meets rather than just reads. She writes unblinkingly of what she sees with a sideways humor that ropes in her readers. Crawford lives outside Atlanta, where she's no longer hoarding her writing — and is already at work on her next book.
